Veteran Ghanaian gospel singer Esther Smith has revealed that her hit song Nsuro was inspired by the melody of Angel, a popular track by Shaggy featuring Rayvon.

In an interview with blogger Kobby Kyei, the gospel star explained that although Angel is a secular song, its melody and string arrangement deeply resonated with her and inspired her spiritually.

She noted that it was the chord progression of the song that led to the creation of Nsuro, revealing that the idea for her song came directly from that musical structure.

Esther Smith added that inspiration can come from different sources when one is spiritually aligned, regardless of whether the original song is gospel or secular.

She also credited her success and uniqueness in the gospel music industry to a strong focus on prayer and deep study of the Bible, especially during a time when many artistes were releasing songs frequently. According to her, she never rushed to release music without first seeking divine direction.
