PHILIPA BAAFI RELEASES “ENKO AKYIRI” (MAY IT BE FAR FROM ME)
Celebrated Ghanaian gospel artiste Philipa Baafi releases her inspiring new single, “Enko Akyiri (May it be far from me),” on 16 October 2026.
Performed in Twi, “Enko Akyiri” blends the rich storytelling tradition of Ghanaian gospel music with a compelling call-and-response chorus that invites listeners to move beyond listening to actively proclaiming its message.
At the heart of the song is the declaration:
“Enko akyiri, emma no emma me so.” “May it be far away; let it not come upon me.”
The refrain expresses a firm posture of faith, encouraging believers to stand in prayer, trust in God’s protection and confront life’s uncertainties with hope rather than fear.

A defining feature of “Enko Akyiri” is its call-and-response format, which encourages active participation and collective proclamation. The section beginning around 1:20–1:21 has been identified as a central moment for the song’s digital campaign, creating an opportunity for audiences to engage directly with its message.

The campaign invites women, choirs, churches, gospel groups, families, communities and Africans across the diaspora to record and share their own interpretations of the declaration.

Inspired by the everyday struggles and spiritual concerns of ordinary people, “Enko Akyiri” gives voice to prayers for protection, preservation and victory over adversity. Its central message is clear: not everything that threatens our peace must be accepted as our portion.
“There are things we refuse to accept as our portion. We pray, we believe and we declare: Enko Akyiri.” Beyond its musical appeal, the release is designed to inspire personal reflection and collective expressions of faith. Its campaign will invite women, choirs, churches, gospel groups, families and communities in Ghana and across the diaspora to participate by sharing their own declarations.

With “Enko Akyiri,” Philipa Baafi presents more than a new gospel single. She offers a musical prayer and an invitation to stand firm in faith, seek God’s protection and believe for better days, even in difficult seasons.
Through its distinctly Ghanaian gospel identity, memorable refrain and participatory message, the song seeks to connect with listeners across generations and communities, transforming a personal prayer into a collective declaration of faith.
