“When we host Ghana Fashion Week in July, I, your president, will proudly take to the catwalk,” he declared to an enthusiastic crowd.

Mahama also revealed that he plans to change outfits three times during his appearance and will publicly credit the designers behind each look.

“I always wear Made-in-Ghana clothes. All my political suits are tailored by Ghanaian designers. Because this experience is real, and it belongs to all of us,” he said. “On that day, I will change three times and walk the runway. Each time, I’ll announce which designer made my outfit.”

The Black Star Experience

The Black Star Experience is the government’s flagship initiative aimed at revitalizing and promoting Ghana’s tourism, culture, and creative arts sectors.

Built on seven pillars—cinema, audio, cuisines, aesthetics, style, literature, and heritage—the programme seeks to expand Ghana’s footprint in the global creative economy.

As part of the experience, Ghana Fashion Week will run for seven days in July, spotlighting local designers, models, and fashion industry stakeholders in a celebration of Ghanaian style and innovation.
