In November 2022, Shatta Wale publicly alleged that Bullgod had a hand in Fennec Okyere’s murder.
In response, Bullgod’s legal team filed a defamation suit at the Accra High Court, contending that the allegations were not only damaging to his reputation but also inappropriate, particularly as the case remained under investigation.
Seeking legal redress, Bullgod asked the court to declare Shatta Wale’s statements defamatory and malicious.
As part of the settlement, Shatta Wale was required to offer a formal apology and provide financial compensation to Bullgod.
In a letter dated April 30, 2025, addressed to Bullgod, Shatta Wale stated: “I also wish to apologise to Mr. Hanson (Bullgod) and all the persons whom my publications of November 2, 2022, have caused pain, agony, anguish, shame, ridicule, or hatred.”
The Minamino Sin hitmaker went on to formally withdraw the allegations he made in 2022.
“I wish to retract each of the statements in the said series of publications, as I did not mean to say that Mr. Hanson had a hand in the murder of Fennec Okyere,” he clarified.
Shatta Wale further explained that the claims he made were based on what he believed to be Bullgod’s confessions, but now recognises they were “misunderstood or misconstrued.”
