Bawumia Has Been Dethroned As NPP Leader – Kwesi Pratt
Veteran journalist Kwesi Pratt has remarked that Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, once a key figure within the New Patriotic Party (NPP), no longer holds the same level of influence following the recent elections.

“Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia is no longer the party’s candidate. In fact, he now stands on the same footing as the other individuals expressing interest in the presidential race,” Pratt stated.
He further pointed out that the current leader of the party is its National Chairman, Stephen Ntim. “Mr. Stephen Ntim is now the party’s leader. He has always taken that role during elections — even when the party is in government,” he noted.
Pratt’s assessment signals a broader shift not only for Dr. Bawumia but for the NPP’s strategic direction as it looks ahead to future elections.
He stressed that internal reorganization should already be underway. “The party should be setting its sights on the 2028 elections,” he said, adding that the leadership race is wide open, and Bawumia must now compete on equal terms with other hopefuls.
