I’m Not Contesting For Npp Flagbearer In 2028 – Matthew Opoku Prempeh
Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh has firmly stated that he has no intention of contesting the New Patriotic Party (NPP)’s flagbearer position in the 2028 elections.
Addressing media speculation about his presidential ambitions during an interview on April 16, 2025, at the Alisa Hotel—where the NPP held a national council meeting—Dr. Opoku Prempeh clarified that his focus remains on supporting party unity ahead of the next elections.
Known widely as NAPO, he emphasized his commitment to backing the party rather than pursuing leadership, simply responding, “Me, personally? No, I’m not running 2028,” when questioned about his intentions.
