The Mayor of Kumasi, Richard Ofori Agyemang Boadi, has announced a tough new directive to curb lawlessness and restore order in the city, warning cattle owners and street vendors to comply.

Speaking at a press conference on April 14, the Mayor stated that beginning May 1, any stray cattle found within the Kumasi metropolis—particularly along the route from the airport to Manhyia Palace—will be seized, slaughtered, and donated to the Kumasi Central Prison to feed inmates.

Expressing frustration over the negative image these animals project, especially in high-traffic tourist areas, he stressed that the presence of cattle and their faeces tarnishes Kumasi’s reputation. The move is part of a broader crackdown aimed at cleaning up the streets and responding to growing complaints from the public.
