Female Student Shot At Adventist Senior High School Goes Blind
A tragic incident at Adventist Senior High School (ADASS) in Kumasi has left 16-year-old student Sussie Pinamang blind after being accidentally shot by a classmate. The event occurred on April 4, 2025, during a classroom break.
According to reports, a male student brought a locally manufactured pistol to school and, during a discussion with peers about its authenticity, the weapon discharged, injuring Sussie. She was immediately taken to Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital for treatment. Despite medical efforts, Sussie has lost vision in both eyes.
Sussie recounted that she was resting her head on her desk when she overheard her classmates debating the gun’s legitimacy. As she raised her head, the firearm went off, resulting in her injury.

Her mother has expressed deep concern over the school’s handling of the situation, noting that school officials have not visited Sussie since the incident. She also questioned how a student could bring a firearm onto school premises unnoticed.
The student responsible for bringing the weapon has been taken into custody, and authorities are investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident.
This unfortunate event has raised significant concerns about school safety and the need for stringent measures to prevent such incidents in the future.
