Ghanaian social media personality Afua Asantewaa Owusu Aduonum, who rose to national fame after her marathon singathon in December 2023, has announced that she’s been awarded a scholarship to study music overseas.
She shared the news via a jubilant video on her social media pages, where she praised God and expressed heartfelt gratitude. The caption read: “See who just got a scholarship into an international music school!”
Although Asantewaa has yet to reveal the name of the institution or the country she’ll be heading to, the news follows her well-publicized attempt to break the Guinness World Record for the longest singing marathon. Her 126-hour, 52-minute performance — staged at the Akwaaba Village in Accra during the 2023/2024 Christmas season — captivated the nation, drawing widespread admiration for her stamina and vocal resilience, even though the record was not officially secured.
