AWUDU IDDRISU: 15-Year-Old Goalkeeper Dreams Big For Ghana
At just 15 years old, Awudu Iddrisu is making a name for himself as a rising star in Ghanaian football. The young goalkeeper has become a key player for Doxa-H United FC, earning the role of first-choice shot-stopper in the ongoing Greater Accra Regional Football Association (GARFA) Division Two League.
Iddrisu’s journey to prominence began when he joined Doxa-H United this season from Gaz Nobles FC, a third-tier club based in Agona Swedru in the Central Region. His outstanding performances have turned heads, with fans and opponents alike praising his quick reflexes and commanding presence in goal.
In his debut season with Doxa-H United, Iddrisu has proven to be a pivotal figure. The Anyaa Sowutuom-based team has suffered just three defeats in 10 games, thanks in large part to the Sefwi Akontonbra native’s consistent displays. Despite the team sitting ninth in the 16-team league, Iddrisu is determined to secure more clean sheets and propel his club higher in the standings.
The young goalkeeper remains laser-focused on his goals. “My dream is to one day play for one of the big clubs in Europe and represent the Black Stars. But for now, I’m focused on my club and working hard every day to get better. If I’m called up to the U-16 or U-17 teams, it will be a dream come true. I’ll grab the opportunity with both hands because I want to make my country proud,” he added.
