2Baba and Annie Idibia: Separation confirmed amid social media drama

Nigerian Singer Innocent Idibia, better known as 2Baba, has removed a social media post in which he confirmed his separation from his wife, actress Annie Idibia, after facing backlash from both fans and celebrities.

On Sunday, the 49-year-old singer shocked fans by posting on Instagram that he and Annie had separated and that divorce proceedings were in progress.

The post read in part: “Annie Macaulay and I have been separated for a while now and have currently filed for divorce… I will release a statement soon to share my side of the story.”

The announcement quickly went viral, triggering a flood of reactions. However, shortly after, 2Baba deleted the post and shared a follow-up message, claiming his account had been hacked: “My Instagram account has been hacked, efforts are being made to regain control #onelove!”

However, in a subsequent video, 2Baba contradicted his earlier claim about the hacking and confirmed that his initial announcement was indeed true. “Nobody hacked my account, na me talk wetin I won talk,” he said in the video, visibly distressed as he sipped from a plastic bottle of water.

The singer’s actions sparked a wave of criticism from fans and fellow celebrities, many of whom accused him of humiliating Annie.

Actress Mary Njoku shared her thoughts, writing, “Bro, Annie has a family o! Your sisters-in-law are many, and we’ve kept quiet out of respect for her tough choices. But since you’ve decided to humiliate her at her lowest, no wahala. Just make sure she’s healthy and okay because when the time comes, we’ll have plenty of questions for you!”

Reality TV star Mercy Atang also reacted, commenting, “I hope my sister @annieidibia1 is okay? I’m hurt, I can’t stop the tears. I just want Annie to be okay.”

BBNaija star Khloe expressed disbelief, saying, “This period? Like this time? This season? Hell no 💔. See ehn, make I just no talk anything right now… cos make this be prank o!!!! Men … Fight Annie, fight all of us o … love is really wicked 💔 men ahhh.”

Media personality Toke Makinwa joined in, stating, “This is wrong on all levels, and you should be ashamed of yourself for bringing this here. Bring it on; if you think she’s alone, let me tell you here that you’ll have to fight all of us.”

Neither Annie Idibia nor her representatives have publicly commented on the situation.

2Baba and Annie, who have been married since 2012, have faced their fair share of public challenges but have remained one of Nigeria’s most admired celebrity couples. They have two children together.
