I was abandoned at birth by my father when he saw I was an albino – Byno

Musician and winner of the 2023 TV3 Mentor, Byno Ayoni, has revealed that his father abandoned him at birth due to his albinism.

Speaking with Andy Dosty on Daybreak Hitz, he disclosed that his father “jakpa” when he came to the hospital to see him and noticed he was an albino.

“I didn’t know my father growing up. According to what my grandmother told me, when I was born, the man came to the hospital, saw me, and said, ‘We don’t have this thing in my family.’ So he ran away.”

He also revealed that his mother, out of disappointment lost her life when he was just a baby.

“My mom, out of pain and disappointment, died when I was just three months old”.

He added that his grandmother took care of him after the demise of his mother but faced serious health issues and societal discrimination because of his albinism.
