Speaking in an interview with Nana Romeo on Okay FM, the “Empare Me” hitmaker explained that gospel music is first and foremost a ministry, not a business venture, and that those who have been called to do God’s work should focus on service rather than financial gain.

“I don’t believe gospel artistes should be charging,” she said. “We are doing the work of God, and ministry is not about money. However, sometimes the reality of expenses makes it difficult.”

Grace Ashly further explained that while she does not believe in charging for ministration, she feels it’s only fair for event organisers and churches to show appreciation in practical ways.

“At least, if the person came with a car, you should try and give them something small for fuel. Don’t just be biased and let them go empty-handed,” she said.

She emphasized that such gestures are not payments, but a way of showing gratitude and support to ministers who dedicate their time and resources to spreading the gospel.
