White Wedding Is A Waste Of Money – Prophet Kofi Oduro
The Head Pastor of Alabaster International Ministries, Prophet Kofi Oduro, has cautioned against the culture of extravagant white weddings.
According to him, spending heavily on white weddings after traditional ceremonies is unwise, as those resources could be better invested in projects that improve livelihoods.
He observed that the rising costs of marriage ceremonies have discouraged many men from marrying, stressing that young couples should prioritise traditional weddings, which are less costly, instead of plunging into debt for lavish celebrations.
“I don’t believe in white weddings. Extravagant ceremonies with countless bridesmaids and flower girls only create unnecessary debt. No matter how wealthy you are, it is not a wise use of money. After being married for 25 years, you can celebrate with a grand anniversary, but not when you’re just starting out in life,” Prophet Oduro remarked.
He further urged couples to channel funds meant for white weddings into more meaningful investments, such as acquiring land or making down payments on houses.

Delivering his message during a sermon, Prophet Oduro emphasized the need for wisdom in financial decisions, warning that financially draining weddings only discourage men from taking the step into marriage.
