Meet The Famous Gospel Musician Who Worked For Daddy Lumba

Gospel musician Selina Boateng has opened up about her long and steady climb to stardom, revealing that unlike others who had a breakthrough moment, her rise came through years of dedication and hard work behind the scenes.

Speaking in an interview on DL FM, Selina disclosed for the first time that she worked as a backing vocalist for several top artistes, including legendary highlife musician Daddy Lumba. According to her, she was the voice behind the background vocals of some of Lumba’s hit songs, including his gospel track Eye N’adom.

Selina explained that Daddy Lumba once expressed interest in producing her as an artiste after recognizing her unique talent. However, she had already signed with Big Ben Music Production, and as a result, she could not take up his offer. On mutual grounds, another backing vocalist was later engaged to perform her parts on all his songs.

“He wanted us to release Eye N’adom and also produce me, but at that time I had already signed with Big Ben. But everything that happens is good maybe God used it as a platform to elevate the person who replaced me,” she noted.

Despite the missed opportunity, Selina said her time working with Daddy Lumba was an invaluable experience. She described the highlife legend as highly professional and well-coordinated, making the process of recording enjoyable and less stressful.

Today, Selina Boateng has carved out a respected name for herself in Ghana’s gospel industry, but her story serves as a reminder of the perseverance and unseen sacrifices behind many success stories.
