Sports Minister Scraps Winning Bonuses For Black Stars Management Committee
Minister for Sports and Recreation Kofi Adams has announced the cancellation of winning bonuses for members of the Black Stars Management Committee.

While players of the senior national football team will continue to receive $5,000 each as a winning bonus during the upcoming FIFA World Cup qualifiers, the $10,000 package previously allocated to management officials has been completely scrapped.

Speaking at a press briefing in Accra on Tuesday, September 2, Mr. Adams revealed that although the budget per game was initially pegged at $1 million, the Ministry had approved $1.3 million to cover two matches.
He clarified that management members will now be entitled only to their per diems and not any performance-related bonuses.

“If for every win we are to pay a winning bonus, what happens if we do not win the number of games required to qualify for the tournament?” Mr. Adams asked.
He criticized the previous system, noting that in past campaigns management officials received bonuses even when the Black Stars failed to qualify for major tournaments.
“Under the previous arrangement, management team members received winning bonuses, but in the end, the team did not even qualify for the Africa Cup of Nations. The players earned nothing, yet managers walked away with bonuses. The president has made it clear: supervise and receive your per diem — but no winning bonus,” he stressed.
The announcement has been welcomed by sections of the public, with many describing it as a step toward financial prudence and fairness within Ghana football administration.
