Black Stars head coach Otto Addo says he has no fear of losing his job despite mounting criticism over his underwhelming record.

Speaking at a pre-match press conference ahead of Ghana’s 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier against Mali at the Accra Sports Stadium on Monday, September 9, he insisted that the possibility of being sacked does not worry him.

His comments come after Ghana’s 1-1 draw with Chad, where Celestine Ecua’s late equalizer cost the Black Stars a vital win. Meanwhile, Mali cruised past Comoros with a 3-0 victory. The disappointing result sparked heavy criticism of Addo, but he responded with defiance.

In his second stint as coach, Addo has managed 15 games, recording five wins, five draws, and five losses, with 27 goals scored and 18 conceded.

“These statistics don’t mean much, especially when some are friendly matches. I’m not afraid of anything, not even being sacked. We are still top of Group I, so nothing has changed,” he said.

Despite this, the Black Stars’ failure to qualify for the 2025 AFCON under his leadership has been widely described as shocking, with Mali coach Tom Saintfiet openly expressing his surprise at Ghana’s absence from the tournament.
