Sarkodie Didn’t ignore My Calls When I Needed A Feature – Obaapa Christy

Gospel musician Obaapa Christy has heaped praise on award-winning rapper Sarkodie, describing him as humble and supportive. According to her, the rapper has always been approachable and never turned her down whenever she reached out for a collaboration.

Speaking in an interview with Nana Romeo on Okay FM, Obaapa Christy dismissed claims that mainstream artistes often ignore gospel musicians. She explained that her own experience with Sarkodie proved otherwise.

“Sarkodie didn’t ignore my calls when I needed a feature. Anytime I reached out, he made himself available, and I am very grateful for the respect and humility he has shown me,” she said.

The gospel star recounted how Sarkodie readily joined her on the track “Odeneho”, a single from her 15th studio album. The song, which blends Obaapa Christy’s powerful gospel delivery with Sarkodie’s signature rap style, has been described by many fans as one of the most unique gospel-rap collaborations in recent years.

Obaapa Christy stressed that Sarkodie’s involvement was not just about star power, but also about amplifying the song’s spiritual message:

“He didn’t only add rap; he brought a special touch that carried the message further to audiences that might not have listened to gospel otherwise.”
