Naval Lieutenant Awura Adjoa Kumi-Kyere, wife of the late Flying Officer Manaen Twum Ampadu, delivered a moving tribute to her husband at the interdenominational state funeral held on Friday, August 15, in honour of the eight distinguished Ghanaians who lost their lives in the Sikaman helicopter crash.

Flying Officer Twum Ampadu was among the victims of the tragic August 6 crash in the Adansi Akrofrom District of the Ashanti Region. The military helicopter, en route to Obuasi for the launch of the government’s Cooperative Mining Initiative, went down in a forested area, claiming the lives of several high-ranking officials and service members.

In her emotional address, Naval Lt. Kumi-Kyere spoke of the deep bond she shared with her husband, describing him as her “best friend, gist partner, and everything.” She reflected on the love they had built since meeting in 2022 and the future they had planned together, now cut short.

“Manaen, you were truly your name to me… considerate, attentive, giving, fun, and loving. Thank you for blessing my life with your sweet presence and your ever-constant smile,” she said, her words echoing the profound grief of a life interrupted by tragedy.

She concluded with a final farewell, expressing her enduring love and faith: “My correct better half, my lover, and my best friend, I hope you know I love you more than these words can convey. Sleep well, my love. God be with you till we meet again.”
