Empress Gifty Reveals How Her Fellow Gospel Artist Caused Her UK Deportation

Allegations of sabotage within Ghana’s creative arts industry have long circulated, with some entertainers claiming they have been undermined by colleagues and insiders. Gospel musician Empress Gifty has now shared her own painful experience, adding weight to the ongoing conversation.

In a TikTok live session on August 12, 2025, the Watch Me hitmaker recounted how her very first trip to the United Kingdom ended in deportation an ordeal she attributes to the actions of a fellow gospel artiste.

According to her, the unnamed colleague had invited her to the UK but abandoned her upon arrival. Immigration officers, she explained, questioned her about the visit and asked her to call the host. Despite repeated calls from 6 a.m. to 4 p.m., the artiste allegedly refused to answer even when the officers themselves tried reaching her.

“They then took me to a room with several cameras, and everyone was staring at me,” Empress Gifty recalled.

She added that her ex-husband sought help from the then Minister of Foreign Affairs, Hannah Tetteh, who intervened but could not convince authorities to allow her entry.

“I was deported the same day. My two-year visa, which had been issued just a week earlier, was revoked,” she revealed.

According to Empress Gifty, her recent successful trip to the UK was not just a personal milestone but a way to silence those who mocked her after the incident.
