President Mahama Announces Memorial Service For Helicopter Crash Victims
President John Dramani Mahama has shared details of an upcoming memorial service to honor the eight Ghanaians who tragically lost their lives in a helicopter crash in the Ashanti Region.

The solemn event, themed “An Evening of Reflections & Memorial,” will take place at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, 9 August 2025, at the Forecourt of the State House in Accra.

The ceremony will pay tribute to the following departed souls:

Dr. Ibrahim Murtala Muhammed, Minister for Environment, Science, Technology and Innovation, and MP for Tamale Central

Alhaji Limuna Muniru Mohammed, Acting Deputy National Security Coordinator

Dr. Samuel Sarpong, National Vice Chairman of the NDC

Samuel Aboagye, former parliamentary candidate

Squadron Leader Peter Bafemi Anala

President Mahama, in his post, called on Ghanaians to join in reflecting on the lives and service of the victims, describing the memorial as a moment to “honour their sacrifice and keep their memories alive.”
The crash, which claimed the lives of these distinguished individuals, has left the nation in deep mourning, with a series of events planned ahead of the state burial on 15 August 2025.
