Ewurabena Aubynn of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) was sworn in on Tuesday, July 22, 2025, as the Member of Parliament for Ablekuma North, despite a walkout by Minority MPs.

The ceremony, presided over by Speaker Rt. Hon. Alban Bagbin, followed a brief standoff after Minority Chief Whip Frank Annoh-Dompreh was denied the opportunity to speak before the oath was administered. Majority Leader Mahama Ayariga argued such remarks should come after the swearing-in. The Speaker agreed, prompting the Minority’s exit from the chamber.

Undeterred, the swearing-in proceeded without interruption.

Aubynn’s induction follows a closely contested parliamentary rerun earlier this month across 19 polling stations, after the Electoral Commission nullified the December 2024 results due to irregularities. She narrowly defeated the NPP’s Akua Afriyie, polling 34,090 votes to Afriyie’s 33,881.
