The Ghana Police Service has announced heightened security for today’s parliamentary re-run in the Ablekuma North Constituency, assuring the public of a peaceful process without military involvement.

A statement from the Accra Regional Police Command confirmed the deployment of officers to all 19 polling stations, along with traffic control and security barriers to ensure safety and order. Citizens are urged to report any suspicious activity by calling 18555 or 192.

Meanwhile, Defence Minister Dr. Edward Omane Boamah reaffirmed on Facebook that “THERE WILL BE NO MILITARY DEPLOYMENT!”, aiming to dispel fears of intimidation. Citing past incidents of election-related violence, he stressed the need to prioritise public safety.

“The Ghana Police Service is trained to handle electoral security, and we trust them to do their job,” he assured.
