We’re Not To Blame For Galamsey – Chinese Ambassador To Ghanaians
Chinese Ambassador to Ghana, Mr. Tong Defa, has rejected claims that Chinese nationals are the main culprits behind illegal small-scale mining (galamsey) in the country.

He described the accusations as misleading, stating that galamsey did not originate from China and is not driven by Chinese citizens. Speaking at a press engagement, he noted that many Chinese involved in the practice are not acting independently.
Ambassador Tong emphasized that the Chinese government does not support illegal mining and is committed to collaborating with Ghana to address the issue.
