Shift Public Holidays To Mondays Or Fridays For Longer Weekends – Nana Romeo Urges Government
Ghanaian radio personality Nana Romeo has publicly urged the government to reschedule public holidays to fall on Mondays or Fridays, aiming to provide citizens with extended weekends for rest and rejuvenation.

In a recent broadcast on Okay FM, Nana Romeo emphasized that aligning holidays with the start or end of the workweek would enhance productivity and allow workers to enjoy more meaningful breaks. He believes this adjustment could positively impact work-life balance and overall national morale.

Currently, Ghana observes 13 statutory public holidays annually, with some dates fixed and others varying each year. While certain holidays, like Farmers’ Day, are already observed on specific weekdays, many others can fall midweek, potentially disrupting work schedules and limiting the opportunity for extended rest periods.
Nana Romeo’s proposal has sparked discussions among the public and policymakers about the potential benefits of such a change. As of now, there has been no official response from government authorities regarding this suggestion.
