The former NPP running mate in the 2024 elections, commonly known as Napo, confirmed in a viral video shared on X that he had honoured invitations from the Bureau on multiple occasions to respond to queries about his tenure in the Akufo-Addo-Bawumia administration.

Napo underscored the need for accountability in public service and emphasized that no one is above scrutiny. As a former officeholder, he said it was his duty to comply with the NIB’s invitation. “As for accountability, nobody can escape it. People don’t know that I’ve been invited by the NIB to assist in investigations into some issues during my time at the Ministry of Education. I couldn’t have declined that invitation,” he said.

He revealed that he has already appeared before the Bureau twice and acknowledged that, while he couldn’t recall every detail, he provided clarity on the matters he remembered. “I’ve forgotten some of the issues; I can’t remember everything that happened while I was in office. That’s why there are technocrats and civil servants who keep records and help run the ministry. For the matters I clearly recall, I shared my account during the sessions,” he added.

Dr. Opoku-Prempeh urged politicians to remain conscious of their conduct while in office, warning that political power is not permanent. “I always say that those of us in politics should know that no condition is permanent. Today you’re in power; tomorrow you could be in opposition. So be mindful of what you do with the authority you hold.”

He concluded by noting that he spent an entire day at the NIB and may be required to return for further discussions.
