Van Vicker Applauds Mahama Over Cedi Stabilisation Efforts
Ghanaian actor Van Vicker has praised President John Dramani Mahama for the recent strengthening of the Ghanaian cedi against the US dollar.
In a Facebook post dated May 28, 2025, the actor wrote: “Mr. President, I must congratulate you on the strengthening of the Ghana cedis on the world market. Ayekoo.”
While acknowledging ongoing debates about the reasons behind the cedi’s improved performance, Van Vicker emphasized that the outcome is undeniable.
“The real cause might be a combination of various theories, but regardless, the fact remains—the Ghana Cedi is currently around GHC11 to $1. Just a few months ago, it hovered around GHC17 to $1,” he noted.
He encouraged Ghanaians to recognize the achievement, calling out those who attempt to minimize the development, especially within the diaspora.

“It’s not a political statement. It’s simply an acknowledgment of good work. Let’s call a spade a spade and give credit where it’s due,” he said, adding that it was “narcissistic” for some abroad to downplay the progress.
Van Vicker expressed optimism that the current trajectory of the cedi could be sustained, stating: “I believe this level of performance is significant for Ghana, and I’m hopeful it can be maintained. Your Excellency JM, if you could take us back to 2007 levels, heerrrh, like it go be ‘kerker’.”
