We Have Learned Valuable Lessons From Our Mistakes – Dr. Bawumia

Former Vice President and 2024 New Patriotic Party (NPP) presidential candidate, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has admitted that while the NPP made notable achievements in office, it also committed significant mistakes from which it has learned valuable lessons.

Speaking during an engagement in London, Dr. Bawumia acknowledged that the party’s performance, though commendable in many areas, was not without its shortcomings.

“The NPP did a lot of work, there’s no doubt about that. But we did not get everything right. We got quite a few things wrong, and I think that—on my own behalf and on behalf of the party and government—I apologise to all of you for not getting certain things right,” he said.

Dr. Bawumia emphasized that the party has taken stock of its missteps and is committed to correcting them if given another mandate by the Ghanaian people.

“I believe that, by the grace of God, if we are given another opportunity, we will get many things right—because we have learned the lessons of where we are going,” he added.

His remarks come in the wake of the NPP’s defeat in the 2024 general elections, where the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) secured a decisive victory.
