He explained that the zero-tariff policy would unlock new opportunities for Ghanaian exporters, agro-processors, and manufacturers by providing greater access to China’s vast market.
“From 2020 to 2024, China’s exports to Ghana increased by nearly 46%, while Ghana’s exports to China rose by over 11%. This zero-tariff access reflects China’s confidence in our partnership and opens wider markets for Ghanaian businesses,” he said.
The President further disclosed that both governments had reached an agreement in principle and were working towards completing the final steps before the end of October.
“I am pleased to announce that we have agreed in principle and expect to sign off on the zero-tariff framework by the end of October. I commend the Government of China for this gesture of solidarity,” he stated.

China’s expanded zero-tariff initiative, which will include all 53 African nations, aims to strengthen economic cooperation and promote fairer trade relations between Africa and global markets.
