World Cup Qualifiers: Chad 1-1 Ghana
The Black Stars were moments away from securing all three points against Chad before a dramatic stoppage-time strike saw the game end 1-1 at the Stade Olympique Maréchal Idriss Déby Itno.
Jordan Ayew opened the scoring for Ghana in the 17th minute, finishing off a well-worked move after Tottenham’s Mohammed Kudus dazzled past his marker on the right and delivered a precise ball across the face of goal. Ayew calmly tapped in at the back post to give Otto Addo’s men an early advantage.

The Black Stars looked set to build on their momentum when teenager Caleb Yirenkyi squandered a golden chance, firing over from inside the box. Later, Ayew threaded a perfect through ball to Antoine Semenyo, but the Bournemouth forward failed to make it count.

Despite Ghana enjoying the lion’s share of possession close to 60% in the opening stages—the hosts sat back, absorbing pressure and waiting for their chance.
That moment came right at the death when Celestine Ecua struck in stoppage time to rescue a point for Les Sao, sparking wild celebrations from the home crowd.
Earlier, Chad had tested Ghana’s resilience with a dangerous free kick deep into added time of the first half, but goalkeeper Benjamin Asare dealt with it comfortably.
In the end, Ghana were left to rue missed opportunities as a late lapse cost them maximum points in a game they largely controlled.
What a goal from Chad to deny Ghana all three points in their World Cup qualifier.
