Wontumi Withdraws Request To Review GH¢50M Bail Condition
Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Bernard Antwi Boasiako, popularly known as Chairman Wontumi, has withdrawn his motion contesting the terms of his bail.
The motion, filed at the High Court in Accra on May 30, 2025, was slated for hearing on Tuesday, June 3. However, his legal team officially withdrew the application on Monday, June 2, ahead of the scheduled proceedings.

Chairman Wontumi had requested a review of the GH¢50 million bail imposed by the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO), arguing through his lawyers that the amount was excessive and posed a barrier to his release.
He has been in EOCO custody since May 27, 2025, over allegations of involvement in several criminal activities, including fraud, money laundering, and causing financial loss to the state.
