Wizkid disappoints Ghanaians as he fails to show up at his own concert
Afropop superstar, Wizkid, definitely has some explaining to do after failing to show up at his December 10 ‘Wizkid Live’ concert held at the Accra Sports Stadium.
According to reports, Wizkid was nowhere to be found after almost all the artists on the bill had finished their performances.
Fans started leaving the venue around 2 am on December 11 after waiting for hours and realizing that the ‘Starboy’ would not make it.
According to some of the patrons, aside from the disappointment of the main headliner, the organizers did a poor job with sound and lighting, a situation that marred the performances of artists like Gyakie and Yaw Tog.
Before heading to Ghana, the Grammy Award winner had held similar sold-out concerts at the Accor Arena in Paris and New York’s Madison Square Garden (November 16) and a gig at the Ziggo Dome, Amsterdam, The Netherlands, on November 24.
Wizkid Live would have been Wizkid’s third show in Ghana, having made his debut alongside Akon in 2018.
It would also have been his first as a headline performer, and also the first performance of the new album in Africa.
The better part of Wizkid’s 2022 has been spent on the road, running “Made in Lagos’.
Wizkid Live was put together by Finali Entertainment Group, the parent company of Live Hub Entertainment.
Artists who performed during the concert include R2Bees, King Promise, Eugy, Efya, Darko Vibes, Kelvyn Boy, Gyakie, Yaw Tog, Asaaka Boys.
