Ghanaian gospel singer Philipa Baafi has called for a more unified approach to music distribution, encouraging the industry to merge traditional formats like CDs and pen drives with modern digital platforms.

Speaking in an interview with Nii Noi on Hitz FM, the award-winning artiste explained that physical music formats still hold significant value and should not be abandoned entirely. According to her, a blend of both physical and digital mediums will help artists reach more audiences, especially in a market where consumer preferences differ widely.

Philipa Baafi used American rapper Cardi B as an example, noting that despite being a global digital powerhouse, the US star continues to sell CDs during her tours and outdoor events.

“Oh yeah, CDs and pen drives should be merged,” she said. “Cardi B still sells CDs outside, so it shows that physical formats are not outdated. We can fuse everything to reach everyone.”

She emphasized that while digital streaming is the current dominant force, many people still appreciate tangible products—whether as collectibles, gifts, or simple music storage options. The goal, she explained, is not to choose one format over the other but to create a system where they coexist effectively.
