The Minority in Parliament has reaffirmed its commitment to stand firm despite being outnumbered in the House.

Speaking to the press on Friday, January 31st, Minority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin stated that his caucus would not bow to intimidation or pressure from the Majority.

He stressed that the National Democratic Congress (NDC), as the party that won the recent election, must recognize the Minority’s important role in governance.

“The NDC should know that they have won an election and they are to govern with us,” Afenyo-Markin stated. He emphasized that despite being fewer in numbers, the Minority remains a significant force in the legislative process.

Reaffirming the resilience of his caucus, the Minority Leader insisted they would not be bullied into submission. “We are a mighty few and won’t be intimidated. We can’t be bullied,” he declared, sending a firm message to the Majority side.

His remarks followed the chaotic scenes at Thursday’s Appointment Committee sitting, where some tables and microphones were reportedly damaged by Minority MPs during a disagreement over whether to continue the vetting late into the night.
