Val Kilmer, Iconic Star Of Batman And The Doors, Dies At 65
Val Kilmer, the acclaimed actor known for his roles in “Top Gun,” “Batman Forever,” and “The Doors,” has passed away at the age of 65 due to pneumonia. His daughter, Mercedes Kilmer, confirmed that he died on April 1, 2025, in Los Angeles.
Born in Los Angeles in 1959, Kilmer began his acting career on stage before transitioning to film. He gained prominence with his portrayal of Tom “Iceman” Kazansky in the 1986 film “Top Gun.” His depiction of Jim Morrison in Oliver Stone’s 1991 film “The Doors” further showcased his versatility as an actor. In 1995, Kilmer took on the iconic role of Bruce Wayne/Batman in “Batman Forever.”
In 2014, Kilmer was diagnosed with throat cancer, which required multiple tracheotomies and affected his ability to speak. Despite these health challenges, he continued to work, reprising his role as Iceman in the 2022 sequel “Top Gun: Maverick.”
Kilmer is survived by his two children, Mercedes and Jack.
