Use Technology To Spread The Gospel – Mensa Otabil To Churches

Founder and General Overseer of the International Central Gospel Church (ICGC), Pastor Mensa Otabil, has encouraged churches to adopt modern communication channels in fulfilling their mission of spreading the gospel.

Speaking during a televised service on Sunday, Pastor Otabil addressed the topic of the second coming of Jesus Christ, stressing that the church cannot afford to ignore the changing landscape of communication.

“We’re supposed to be preaching the gospel as witnesses to the world. That’s the church’s mission. We have to use all forms of communication to make Christ known,” he emphasized.

He highlighted how the COVID-19 pandemic forced churches worldwide to shift from in-person gatherings to online services, leveraging digital platforms to reach congregants in their homes. According to him, this transition has proven that technology provides an effective way to engage with all generations.

Drawing inspiration from the biblical day of Pentecost, he explained that sharing the gospel in people’s “languages” today goes beyond ethnicity—it also includes generational and technological languages.

“The church has to learn to speak to the world with modern technology and a new vocabulary that allows the new generation to appreciate the gospel of Christ,” Pastor Otabil noted.

He further stressed that churches must be logical, passionate, and persuasive in an ethical way, while adapting their approach to meet the expectations of the modern era.

“We must reach this generation in a language they understand. We cannot continue preaching the gospel in the same old way,” he concluded.
