On Monday, February 17, 2025, the Ministry of Finance successfully fulfilled its commitment to bondholders by disbursing GHC6.081 billion in Payment-In-Cash (VIC) coupons under the Domestic Debt Exchange Programme (DDEP).

This action follows a directive from President John Mahama, reinforcing the government’s dedication to meeting its financial obligations.

Additionally, the government has settled the Pay-In-Kind (PIK) portion, amounting to GHC3.46 billion, by depositing it into the respective bondholders’ securities accounts in line with the DDEP Memorandum.

To further strengthen debt management and boost investor confidence, GHC9.7 billion has been allocated to the Debt Service Recovery Cedi Account (Sinking Fund). This reserve is intended to support the upcoming fifth DDEP coupon payments scheduled for July and August 2025.

In a statement, Presidential Spokesperson Felix Kwakye Ofosu reaffirmed President Mahama’s firm commitment to fulfilling all obligations under the DDEP.

“The 2025 budget statement will introduce additional measures to restore market confidence, enhance spending efficiency, and promote transparency and accountability in public finance,” the statement concluded.
