TGMA is unfocused and overlooks hardworking artists like me – Lilwin claims
Kumawood star cum musician, Kwadwo Nkansah, popularly known as LilWin, has criticized the organizers of the Telecel Ghana Music Awards (TGMA), accusing them of favoritism and neglecting hardworking artists like himself. According to LilWin, instead of following the principle of “who the cap fits must wear it,” the TGMA board favors those they know, overlooking those who truly deserve recognition for their dedication and effort.
Despite his string of hit songs and dynamic stage performances, LilWin has repeatedly been passed over for nominations, a situation he finds discouraging. He believes the awards lack sincerity, as they don’t offer genuine recognition to deserving artists. “If the medal came with money, I’d take the snub seriously,” he said, pointing out that an award without any financial benefit feels meaningless.
The TGMA, now in its 25th year and organized by Charterhouse Ghana with sponsorship from Telecel Ghana, has faced criticism from LilWin, who feels it fails to recognize hardworking musicians like him, instead favoring a select group.

Despite the lack of recognition, LilWin remains unbothered. He prioritizes financial success and entertaining his fans over accolades. “As long as I’m making money without TGMA, I’m content,” he confidently stated. He also took pride in his stage presence, asserting, “There are only five musicians in Ghana who can truly rock a stage, and I’m one of them.”
