TGMA Credits Kuami Eugene As Songwriter Of Okyeame Kwame’s ‘No Competition’ Following Official Review

Following a thorough review of the nominations submitted, the Board of the Telecel Ghana Music Awards (TGMA) has announced a revision to the Songwriter of the Year category.

As part of its commitment to transparency, the TGMA Board allowed a one-week window for errors and omissions to be identified and corrected.

After careful evaluation, the Board discovered a single omission. In a statement released on Thursday, April 3, 2025, the Board revealed that a petition review confirmed Kuami Eugene’s contribution to the songwriting of Okyeame Kwame’s track ‘No Competition’—a fact previously uncredited in the original nomination.

Initially, the scheme nominated only Okyeame Kwame for the Songwriter of the Year award with the song ‘No Competition’, despite the fact that the track was co-written with Kuami Eugene.

However, following a formal review, the TGMA Board has made changes to the nomination. “The TGMA Board has corrected the song ‘No Competition’ in the Songwriter of the Year category. The song was initially credited only to Okyeame Kwame. However, after review, we confirm that Kuami Eugene was a co-writer. The official nominees list has been updated accordingly,” the statement read.

The Board also reaffirmed its commitment to fairness and transparency in the awards process, stating: “We also reiterate our dedication to educating stakeholders, leveraging the error and omission window as a valuable learning tool.”

In ‘No Competition’, both Kuami Eugene and Okyeame Kwame reflect on the struggles and hustle that have shaped their rise to the top. They boldly declare that they face no competition, emphasizing their distinctiveness, perseverance, and unmatched work ethic.

The track was produced by Kuami Eugene in collaboration with celebrated producer MOGBeatz, further showcasing Eugene’s multifaceted contribution to the song.
