Stop The Backlash Against Gospel Artists Who Divorce – Selina Boateng Urges
Ghanaian gospel singer Selina Boateng has called for more empathy and understanding towards gospel artists who go through divorce, urging the public to end the harsh criticism and judgment often directed at them.
Speaking in an exclusive interview on Joy Prime, the award-winning musician stressed that gospel artists, though public figures, are also human and face challenges in their marriages just like anyone else.

“When a gospel musician gets divorced, people are quick to criticize and condemn, forgetting that we are also human beings with real struggles. We need love, prayers, and support rather than constant backlash,” Selina said.
She further explained that many of these artists are under immense pressure to maintain a “perfect” public image, which makes marital struggles even harder to endure. According to her, such criticism only deepens the pain of those already going through difficult times.

Selina Boateng appealed to both the church and the general public to show compassion instead of judgment, stressing that divorce does not erase a person’s calling or ministry.
Her comments come at a time when several gospel artists across Ghana and beyond have faced heavy public scrutiny following the collapse of their marriages.
