Ghana’s entertainment scene was thrown into turmoil today after rapper Medikal launched a scathing attack on TV3, following comments made on the network’s Choices program about Sarkodie’s Grammy potential.

The controversy erupted after panelists on Wednesday’s episode suggested that the award-winning rapper’s chances at securing a Grammy were effectively over. The segment, filmed at Bako Studios and later uploaded to YouTube, quickly gained traction within Ghana’s music community.

Medikal responded with fiery intensity in a now-deleted tweet, saying:

“Dumbass station, stupid ass admin, foolish boy! Nonsense cameraman, everybody at TV3, your mother! Don’t play my music again. Fools, broke people, animals!”

His rant—laced with English, Pidgin, and Twi expletives—was widely seen as a ban on the network from airing his music. Though he didn’t directly mention Sarkodie, many interpreted the tirade as a show of loyalty to Ghana’s rap fraternity in the face of media criticism.

While TV3 executives have declined to comment, sources say the network stands firmly behind its editorial content. The controversial Choices episode remains online and has already surpassed 50,000 views in under 24 hours.

Industry observers say the incident underscores rising tensions in Ghana’s quest for global musical acclaim. Sarkodie, currently on tour in Europe, has yet to address the controversy. His team maintains that his 2025 album No Pressure is still under Grammy consideration.
