Speaking in an interview with actress and host Emelia Brobbey on Okukuseku The Talkshow, Selina disclosed that despite working hard and producing quality music, her songs were intentionally sidelined because of such unethical practices.

“Someone actually paid presenters not to play my songs,” she claimed, adding that the experience was both painful and discouraging as an artist who relies heavily on media platforms to reach the public.
Selina Boateng, known for hit gospel songs such as Alpha & Omega and Medofo Pa, further explained that these acts of sabotage made her realize how deeply rooted unhealthy competition and payola are in the industry.

Her revelation has sparked conversation among fans and industry observers, many of whom believe her story sheds light on the struggles some musicians endure behind the scenes. Others have called for stricter measures to curb payola and ensure fairness in Ghana’s music industry.
