Some Men Marry Famous Women Just To Bring Them Down – Selina Boateng

Gospel musician Selina Boateng has shared her thoughts on why some men are drawn to marrying women in the limelight.

Speaking in an interview with Doreen Avio on Joy Prime’s Changes show, the award-winning singer revealed that certain men deliberately seek out famous women, not out of love, but with the intention of controlling or diminishing them.

“Some come purposely because of your fame. He’s coming to humble and control you so you won’t get the chance to even do the work of God,” she explained.

Selina highlighted that the reality of a celebrity’s private life often differs from their public image—something some men struggle to understand, which can create tension in marriages.

She further emphasized the demanding nature of their profession, pointing out that many gospel musicians unfortunately end up with partners who lack the needed support.

“The media and the work we do is the problem. Out there, people see you differently, but your real character comes out at home. That’s when your partner truly gets to know who you are. Sadly, not everyone ends up with the right support for their ministry,” she said.

Drawing from her own experiences, Selina advised young women to seek God’s guidance in choosing life partners, stressing that spirituality should play a key role in such decisions.

“If you don’t have a relationship with God and the Holy Spirit is not with you, you’ll mislead yourself and choose the wrong person,” she cautioned.
