Sing In English To Connect With A Global Audience – Nathaniel Bassey Urges Gospel Musicians

Nigerian pastor and gospel singer Nathaniel Bassey has urged Ghanaian gospel musicians to go beyond singing in local dialects and also write songs in English to broaden their global reach.

Speaking at the Jesus Christ Encounter event held at the Accra Sports Stadium on December 3, 2023, Bassey praised the anointing on Ghanaian gospel artistes but pointed out that their music often remains unnoticed internationally because most of their songs are in Twi.

“In the next four to five years, psalmists from Ghana will come to Nigeria and host their own concerts. Your songs will rise from Ghana to the nations of the earth,” he said.

He encouraged them to be intentional about writing in English, not as a replacement for their local languages but as a way of carrying their message to the world.

“Yes, I know you love your local dialect Twi and others but there is an anointing on you, and the world needs to hear your songs,” Nathaniel Bassey added.
