Shatta Wale Provides Free Shaxi Rides For Celebrities

Ghanaian musician and entrepreneur Shatta Wale has launched a generous initiative through his ride-hailing company, Shaxi, offering free rides to celebrities who use the service.

In a social media post, the outspoken artist announced that any well-known Ghanaian celebrity who books a Shaxi ride will not be required to pay. He explained that Shaxi will absorb the full cost of the ride while still ensuring drivers receive full compensation.

“Every known celebrity in Ghana who takes Shaxi for the experience will be exempt from payment, as Shaxi will cover the cost and compensate its drivers,” Shatta Wale stated.

This initiative, which combines strategic marketing with a gesture of goodwill, seems aimed at boosting both visibility and credibility for the Shaxi brand through celebrity endorsement. At the same time, it underscores Shatta Wale’s ongoing commitment to ensuring fair compensation for drivers.

Shaxi—short for “Shatta Taxi”—was launched in 2021 with the goal of creating employment opportunities for young people and offering a locally driven alternative in Ghana’s expanding ride-hailing market. Since its inception, Shatta Wale has consistently emphasized the platform’s mission to empower youth and promote homegrown enterprise.

While some fans view the free celebrity ride offer as a savvy promotional move, others see it as a mark of respect for Ghana’s entertainment industry, which continues to shape cultural narratives and influence public behavior.
