Rex Omar Appointed As Presidential Staffer For The Black Star Experience
Renowned Ghanaian highlife musician and entrepreneur, Rex Owusu Marfo, popularly known as Rex Omar, has been appointed as a Presidential Staffer for the Black Star Experience.

This initiative is the National Democratic Congress’s (NDC) flagship program aimed at redefining and affirming Ghanaian identity, attracting investments, creating jobs, and boosting tourism through year-round cultural and artistic celebrations.
In his new role, Rex Omar will collaborate closely with the Executive Director, Maame Efua Houadjeto, to implement the government’s strategic plans for the tourism sector. His extensive experience in the music industry and his dedication to promoting Ghana’s cultural heritage are expected to bring renewed vigor to the Black Star Experience initiative.
Rex Omar has dedicated over two decades to the Ghanaian music industry, earning respect as a highlife musician and a management professional specializing in intellectual property rights. He has served as the Chairman of the Ghana Music Rights Organization (GHAMRO) since 2017 and has been re-elected for a second term.
His previous roles include Vice President of the Copyright Society of Ghana and member of the 2013 Committee for National Intellectual Property and Policy Strategy. Additionally, he has been an advisor to President John Mahama and the NDC on matters concerning the creative arts sector.
The Black Star Experience is designed to be Ghana’s flagship culture, arts, and tourism brand. It aims to redefine and affirm the Ghanaian identity, attract investments, create new jobs, and increase tourism. The initiative will undertake year-round celebrations encompassing major entertainment, artistic, and educational disciplines, positioning Ghana as a vibrant cultural hub.
Rex Omar’s appointment is anticipated to infuse the Black Star Experience with his vast expertise and passion for Ghana’s cultural and creative arts, driving the nation’s tourism and cultural sectors to new heights.
