Minority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin has come out strongly in defense of Rev. John Ntim Fordjour, Ranking Member on Parliament’s Defence and Interior Committee and MP for Assin South, following an attempted arrest by operatives of the National Investigations Bureau (NIB) at the MP’s residence—an incident confirmed by NPP General Secretary Justin Kodua Frimpong in a Facebook post on April 9.

Addressing the media alongside party leaders who rushed to support Rev. Fordjour, Afenyo-Markin firmly declared that the MP “has not walked alone and will never walk alone,” emphasizing the full backing of the Minority caucus. He reminded the public that Rev. Fordjour speaks on behalf of the caucus and leads its Defence and Interior Committee, stressing that no attempts to isolate or intimidate him will be tolerated.

In a passionate address, Afenyo-Markin stated, “He walks through this unfortunate valley of the shadow of death, but he will fear no evil,” highlighting the MP’s faith and the unwavering support of the “mighty 88” caucus members. Concluding his statement, he issued a direct warning to government actors: “Enough is enough,” signaling that the Minority would resist any further actions perceived as political intimidation.
