Recruitment For Police, Prisons, And Other Security Services Starts On November 17
The Minister for the Interior, Muntaka Mubarak, has announced that the nationwide recruitment exercise for key security services has been postponed following a deadly stampede during a military recruitment drive.

The recruitment for the Ghana Police Service, Ghana Immigration Service, and Ghana Prisons Service, originally scheduled for Saturday, November 15, 2025, will now begin on Monday, November 17, 2025.
The decision, made public on Friday, November 14, follows the tragic incident at El Wak Sports Stadium, where a surge of applicants caused a stampede. The Ministry confirmed that six people died, 12 are in critical condition, and five are receiving treatment in the Intensive Care Unit. A separate recruitment exercise in Kumasi also left five people injured.

Minister Mubarak stated that a revised recruitment schedule will be published in national newspapers, on official social media accounts, and through the relevant ministries and agencies.
The Ministry has pledged to implement additional safety measures to prevent a similar tragedy, while investigations into the El Wak incident continue. The postponement allows for a thorough review and strengthening of crowd control and safety protocols to ensure the safety of all future applicants.
