The CSA is the government agency tasked with overseeing and regulating cybersecurity in Ghana, as well as ensuring the development of a secure digital ecosystem.

The Safer Digital Ghana Campaign is a nationwide effort aimed at raising public awareness about online safety and cybersecurity. The initiative seeks to educate Ghanaians on the importance of protecting their digital lives, equipping them with the knowledge and tools needed to guard against cyber threats. The campaign will reach a wide audience, including students in Senior High Schools, and will cover issues such as phishing, online scams, misinformation, digital blackmail, and data breaches.

In addition to fostering safer online behavior across age groups, the campaign will help individuals, institutions, and communities build digital resilience. It also aims to increase awareness about the Cybersecurity Act, 2020 (Act 1038).

Given the rapid growth of digital technology use in Ghana, the CSA emphasizes the urgent need for a culture of cybersecurity awareness and shared responsibility. The campaign will focus on:

  • Educating citizens on risks associated with online activities and sharing tips for staying safe.

  • Providing skills for safe and effective use of digital technologies.

  • Encouraging the reporting of cybercrime and offering accessible support resources.

Speaking at the launch, CSA Director-General Mr. Divine Selase Agbeti highlighted the significance of the campaign, noting its potential to greatly reduce cybercrime in Ghana. He stressed that cybersecurity should not be left to institutions alone—every citizen must actively protect themselves and others online.

Mr. Agbeti also explained the choice of Edem as ambassador, citing his strong influence, cultural relevance, and genuine passion for digital advocacy. He noted that Edem’s involvement brings relatable energy and visibility, particularly among youth and Ghana’s growing digital community.

  • Businesses: Supply Chain Risks, Email Compromise, Backup and Recovery Planning.

  • Government Agencies: Insider Threats, Threat Intelligence Sharing, Incident Reporting.

To ensure broad accessibility, campaign materials have been translated into multiple local languages.

“The Cyber Security Authority remains committed to building cybersecurity awareness and safeguarding Ghanaians from digital threats,” said the Director-General. “Through collective effort, we can foster a secure and digitally empowered society.”

In a post-event interview, Edem expressed his dedication to the initiative. He warned against ignoring the rising threat of cybercrime, which poses risks to individuals and businesses alike.

He affirmed that the campaign’s goal is to empower every Ghanaian to take ownership of their digital safety. “Our shared vision,” he said, “is to help Ghanaians understand that cybersecurity isn’t just a technical matter it’s a personal responsibility, a social duty, and a national priority.”
