The donation, he explained, was made in recognition of the group’s selfless dedication to keeping Ghana’s streets and neighborhoods clean, often without external support.

President Mahama stressed the importance of community-driven action in addressing Ghana’s sanitation challenges, adding that the National Sanitation Day would thrive with the active participation of groups like the Bus Stop Boys.

“We cannot leave sanitation solely to the government. It is a collective responsibility, and I deeply appreciate the dedication of the Bus Stop Boys in keeping our communities clean,” he said.

The Bus Stop Boys, who have earned admiration across the country for their consistent voluntary work, expressed gratitude for the support, noting that the donation would significantly ease their work and boost their morale.

The relaunch of the National Sanitation Day forms part of Mahama’s broader 24-Hour Economy agenda, which also emphasizes sustainable environmental management, job creation, and civic responsibility.

With this renewed push, stakeholders hope to inspire more citizens and organizations to actively contribute to a cleaner, healthier Ghana.
